Mario Bros: to protect.



The door to the Mario brothers home flew open and a dirty and taterd Luigi stomped in.

"That was incredibly stupid of you Luigi!" Mario who was just a bet up as Luigi said slamming the door shut be hind him."not to mention dangerous. " he added.

"Well sorry if saw an opening took it!" Luigi said turning to face his brother.  

"And how did that end hu? Waluigi blasted you right into the wall!" Mario said a little bit louder than his normal pitch.

"Hey, it-a worked out didn't it? Him and Wario where so distracted by me they left themselves open to an attack from behind. Which I might add you took to stop them!" Luigi said match Mario's tone and pointing a finger at him.

"Yes but I didn't need you to endanger yourself to stop them!" Mario said crossing his arms. "If you had just waited a second longer instead of seeking off after I threw my fire ball I would have told you I had a plain for us to beat them!" The hero scolded.

"I still don't see why you are-a making such a fuss out of this! We beat them either way and none of peach's stuff got stolen it's no big deto" Luigi said crossing his arms as well and Rolling his eyes.

"No big deal!? It's No big deal that you got hit heard enough to crack the wall? It's no big deal that if Waluigi had chosen to blast you a second sooner you would have broken through the tower window in stead of just hitting the wall!?" Mario yelled  stepping closer to his baby brother.

Luigi simply rolled his eyes and shook his head.

"Honestly don't you know anything about fighting by now Luigi!?" Mario continued to scold.

"No" the younger man said quietly.

"What?" Mario asked tilting his head.

"I said no, I don't know anything about fighting by now,you know why? Because you never let me fight alone! If there's ever a problem we have to fix it together or you leave me home to make sure 'everything stays in order'." Luigi said making air quotes. "If you would let me do more things on my own I may know a little more about fighting!" Luigi yelled.

"Oh,so this is all my fault then?"  The plumber said sarcastically

"Yes, you know why? I barely know any one on one attacks only one on two. You know the reason? you never let me do any thing on my own! I don't get it why do you feel need to be so over protective?"Liuig asked loud enough that if they had neighbors they would have heard him.

"Why? You want to know why?" Mario asked lowly "Who practically spent the first three years of his life in bed with colds? Who did I have to save from bullies every day in elementary school? Who use to get so scared of the dark he could sleep by himself until he was nine? Who wouldn't help me save Paulina from D.K. because the was afraid of heights and would pass out if he went up there? Whose the only family I have left in this whole world that I almost lost ten years ago?" Mario said fist clenched and voice shaking.

At this Liuig losend up and looked at his brother.

"What?" The green hero asked. "Ten years ago?... But that's when ma and pa.." Luigi tailed off not wanting to remember what had happened. It seemed so much longer then ten years ago.

"Yeah, not to long after that had happened I found out that you and me would be placed in foster care since we didn't have other living relatives. I told them I would take you since I was almost eighteen but they said I couldn't because I didn't have a job and couldn't provide for you but they said that if I got a well paying job before the month was out they would see. So I dropped out of high school and took the first well paying job I was offered...Milo's plumbing." Mario said fighting back tears.

"You told me you only did that because we needed to get our own place since we would lose the house." Luigi said unfolding his arms.

"Well yeah that was half true." Mario mumbled.

"But why?" Luigi questioned "we would have both been placed in foster care."

"Yeah but there was no way to know if we would have bin in the same home and on top of that I would have aged out in just a few weeks. You would have to stay in because you would have bin a Miner for another nine months and I didn't want to loose you not after we just lost ma and pa you were all I had and I promised ma I would always keep you safe." Mario said his eyes now covered by the brim of his hat.

Luigi stepped forward and hugged his brother much to Mario's surprise.

"And you've done grate at that." The younger said. "But I think mama only meant that for when I was younger bro." Luigi added.

"Well you'll always be my younger brother." Mario said  hugging him back"it's just all my life I've protected you. Now that you're the only family I got I don't think I could handle it if I lost you and the thought of you being on a mission alone with out me and I didn't know where or how you were doing just tariffs me."

"How do you think I feel when you go it solo? You're the only family I have too." Luigi stated letting his brother go. "I know you want me to be safe but how can I be one hundred percent safe if I can't even protect myself? I think today was a good example of that."

Both chuckled at that and Mario wiped his eyes.

"No your right I guess I just though that since you're such a scaredy cat you wouldn't want to go on most of the the adventures." Mario teased.

"Hey." Liuig said playfully punching Mario's arm. "Yes I will admit I may be just as easily frightened as you are over protective but the fact that I could lose you Trump's all my other fears." Luigi said.

"He, when did you get so wise?" Mario asked.

"Hey one of us has got to be the brains." Luigi said smugly pointing to him self proudly with a smirk.

"Okay that's it!" Mario said pulling Luigi down so his head was trapped under his arm making his hat fall off and rubbing his knuckles to Luigi's hair.

"Gaaa, hey stop it bro no fair." Luigi said

"Hey if you're the Brian's that must make me the brawn." Mario said still holding him in a head lock.

"Let go bro. Or I'll Electrocute you I mean it!" Luigi said as he struggled to get out of his brother's grasp.

Mario couldn't help but laugh even with the fact Luigi had a few inches on him he still couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag....just like he had told him a few minutes ago. With this realization Mario losend his grip on his brother.

Feeling this Luigi took this as a chance to escape. He pushed on Mario's arm sending his brother flying forward and him back landing next to the coffee table. Both lay on the floor for a split second before pushing themselves up to look at one another before bursting into laughter. After they had settled down Mario spoke up.


"Hey, weegee?"

"Yeah?"

"How would you like it if I thought you how to fight one one one?" Mario asked

Luigi's face lit up those words.

"You mean it?"  He asked thinking Mario maybe joking.

"Yeah like you said I can't always protect you so its best if you can." Mario said from his spot on the floor.

"Well yeah of course!" Luigi said with a smile. "Can I start going on quest's by myself too." He joked.

Mario chuckled. "Well i don't control you but let's take it One step at a time. but you can come with me on other ones if you want, just ask."

There was a small pause between the two.

"Hey Mario?" Luigi ask braking the silence.

"Yeah bro?"

"Thanks."

"For what."

"Just being a great big brother."

"He,you're welcome weegee. Thanks for being a great little brother. Love you bro." Mario said with a smile.

"Love you too bro." Luigi said
